SCOTT'S PERSONAL SERVICE

I take great pride in the hard work I offer for all of my schools, both onsite and from my office or the State College plant. What are my promises to you as a Jostens customer?

School Visits
I work my schedule to visit each school approximately every five weeks, more often if necessary. As deadlines approach I plan to visit you either the week before or week of your deadline. That means I put a LOT of miles on my car, but I enjoy my job and assisting my schools whenever possible. The only things that interrupt my travel schedule are bad weather conditions or if one of my daughters is ill and home from school; being a Dad is my other important job.

Extra Charges
Here's one that burns a lot of schools - getting the final yearbook bill and seeing hundreds of dollars in extra charges that were unaccounted for. No one likes that kind of sticker shock. I eliminate it by providing a detailed breakdown of possible extra charges to all of my schools starting each fall, with the message that's "let's avoid these costs if at all possible." And when extra charges do pop up, I do my best to alert the school well BEFOREHAND so they know about these items in advance. I also provide schools with updated budgets on demand as well as an update in the spring once our final order of books and extras has been entered.

Returning Messages
I check phone messages several times each day and check email at least every morning and evening. I also provide my cell phone number to my customer schools in case of an emergency. I offer my schools a guarantee: I will return your message within 24 hours, or I owe you something. I've NEVER had to pay off on that guarantee because I take my commitment to you very seriously.

Visiting the State College Creative Facility
I encourage any of my schools to visit our new State College creative facility for a NO CHARGE tour, where I serve as your personal host. There may not be a production plant but the State College consultant and creative staff remains, ready to assist at any time. We spend time in one of our libraries to checkout books from other schools for fresh ideas, as well as other instruction. The consultant staff will present 30 minute instructional sessions on yearbook topics of your choice. And for those who wish their own custom cover design, an hour with one of our talented Jostens artists leads to a sketch of the design and other materials. A Jostens creative tour is always a great day, and we even provide a tasty lunch for everyone, all on us.

Single-Day Training Workshops
In late September and early October each year I offer my single-day Basic Training workshops at school sites throughout my work region, including one near you! The travel time is short and the cost is low. In just five hours we cover all the basics to help your effort get started: computer training in the morning, followed by a delicious lunch, then other yearbook instruction in the afternoon. I even offer a free workshop T-shirt for every paid participant. Most schools cannot afford the time spent or the charges for a multi-day workshop, which is one reason why my single-day workshops are so popular. Whether if you use software or our exclusive YearTech Online, my Basic Training workshops are tailored for you.

Continuing Education - For You AND Scott
My yearbook advisers know that they can call on me at any time for educational efforts for both themselves and their staffers: yearbook journalism and writing, photography, page layouts, book and advertising selling, whatever ever the topic. And I also continue to educate myself in the latest trends in yearbooks and publishing, during annual Jostens meetings and through our unique Jostens employee online training, so that I can stay informed on the newest software, online and photography tools to further improve your yearbook effort.

And of course, there are my exclusive online instructional videos produced and updated by me each year, easily usable alone as a tutorial or in a classroom setting. Check out my titles back in the left column of the home page. If you're uncomfortable with a topic, let me do the teaching!

My Exclusive Website
This website is always a work in progress but I'm excited for the future and some of the services I will be able to bring you through this site. Virtually everything you see here has been produced by me. My goal is for this website to be a busy, functioning part of my yearbook effort, not just a flashy billboard. Stay tuned!!
